Hotel Night Audit Checklist: What to Verify Before You Close the Day

The night audit is the moment the front desk proves that the day's numbers are right. Done by hand it takes hours; with the right hotel software it takes minutes.

Checklist

  • In-house list: every occupied room has an active check-in and a guest name.
  • Pending check-outs: guests due today are either checked out or extended.
  • Folio charges: restaurant, laundry and extras are posted to the right folio.
  • Advance & payments: each receipt matches a cash or bank entry.
  • Room revenue: the day's room rent is posted for every occupied room.
  • No-shows: reservations that did not arrive are released.
  • Room status: dirty and cleaning rooms are updated for tomorrow.
  • Reports: collection report and due list are saved for management.

Why automate it

Manual audits invite missed charges and unexplained cash differences. A one-click audit with remarks creates a clear history of every closed day.
